Angelina Projected and Actual Release
“Projected Release Date” is TDCJ's exact public label. Classification and Records calculates it as the date release is expected if parole does not occur sooner. The calculation uses the offense title and date, sentence, flat time, good-time status, mandatory-supervision eligibility, and Board action. It is neither a promise nor a county-jail calculation.
An actual release date records an event that occurred. A projected date looks forward and may change. Pretrial custody is different again. Someone held at the Angelina County Detention Center before disposition has no sentence-based release calculation. Bond, dismissal, a court order, a hold, or transfer may end or continue that custody episode.
- Flat time
- Calendar time actually served.
- Good time
- Credit that can affect eligibility calculations but does not erase the judicial sentence.
- Maximum expiration
- The calculated end of the sentence when earlier release does not occur.
- Detainer
- A request or hold from another authority that may lead to continued custody or transfer.
Find an Angelina Projected Release Date
For a sentenced state prisoner, start with the TDCJ Online Inmate Search. It covers people committed to TDCJ, including those at Diboll Unit and Duncan Unit. It does not preserve short Angelina jail stays. Search by TDCJ number when possible. Otherwise use the live name and biographical fields, then compare the county of conviction and offense.
- Identify the custody system. Check the Angelina jail roster for present county custody and TDCJ for state custody.
- Match the person carefully. A number is stronger than a common name, while conviction county and offense help resolve close matches.
- Read “Projected Release Date” as a calculation. Also inspect current location, status, parole-review information, and any actual release field.
- If a state release is scheduled, call the unit before travel. TDCJ says release information can change.
- For a county sentence, request the jail's sentence computation or ask the sentencing court and jail records unit. The public roster has no projected-date field.
The official search interface is shown in the successful manifest capture below. Open the live TDCJ search before relying on any saved view.

The form routes state-prison questions to the correct system. A person who bonded out of the Angelina jail without entering TDCJ may never appear there.
Texas Good Time for Angelina Releases
Government Code section 498.003 provides classification-based good-conduct rates. Trusty or Class I status can earn 20 days for each 30 days served, with possible additional trusty credit. Class II can earn 10 days per 30, and Class III earns none. Up to 15 additional days per 30 may apply for diligent participation in listed programs.
Those figures are inputs, not a safe subtraction formula. Good time applies to parole or mandatory-supervision eligibility and otherwise does not reduce the sentence imposed by the court. It is a privilege, not a right. Classification, forfeiture, restoration limits, program participation, offense eligibility, and Board action all matter. A headline rate cannot yield a reliable personal date.
County jail credit follows another law. Code of Criminal Procedure article 42.032 says a sheriff may grant a commutation for good conduct, industry, and obedience, up to one day for each day served, and must keep conduct and calendar records. “May” is discretionary. The statute does not establish Angelina's actual award in a specific case, so request the computation.
Does Texas Require 85 Percent?
Texas has no blanket rule requiring every state prisoner to serve 85 percent. That shorthand often comes from a different system and should not be imported into an Angelina County release-date estimate. Texas eligibility rules vary by offense, offense date, sentence, and statutory category.
Government Code section 508.145 includes offense-specific and date-specific minimums. Many aggravated categories require actual calendar time equal to one-half of the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, without good time in that minimum. Some specified crimes have different minimums. Sections 508.147 and 508.149 govern mandatory supervision and exclusions.
For an eligible offense before September 1, 1996, flat time plus good time reaching the sentence may establish the mandatory-supervision date. For a post-1996 eligible case, Board approval also matters. A denial can recalculate the projection to maximum expiration. Later approval may move it forward. Ineligible cases generally project to maximum expiration unless parole occurs sooner. This separate treatment of state and county good time is the Research Section 19 angle for this page.
Why Angelina Release Dates Change
A projection can move because one or more inputs changed. The date should be checked again after a disciplinary action, new court order, parole vote, or custody transfer. The most recent official record controls.
| Change | Effect on the date |
|---|---|
| Good-time classification or forfeiture | Changes credit used in eligible calculations. |
| Mandatory-supervision denial or approval | Can move a post-1996 eligible case toward maximum expiration or an earlier approved point. |
| Parole decision | May authorize earlier release, set a future date, or require a program before release. |
| New sentence or court order | Can alter the time that must be served or how sentences interact. |
| Hold or detainer | May cause transfer or continued custody after one sentence ends. |
| Time-credit correction | Can change flat-time or certified county-time inputs. |
A favorable parole code still does not prove physical departure. Some approval codes require treatment or set a future event. New information can also lead to withdrawal or rescission. Confirm the final event through TDCJ.
TDCJ Defines Angelina Release Projections
The TDCJ definitions page explains the official label and recalculation rules. Its captured page is long because it defines many prison terms, so use the live source and locate “Projected Release Date” rather than reading an isolated third-party summary.

The definition ties the date to offense facts, mandatory-supervision eligibility, and Board action. That context is why an old screenshot should never replace the current person record.
Angelina Jail Release-Date Records
The Angelina jail roster is present-custody only. It lists booking information but does not publish a projected release date or release field. For a sentenced county-jail term, contact Book-In at 936-639-8724 or Records at 936-639-8762 and request the existing sentence computation or release document. The court judgment supplies the sentence and legal authority, while the jail record supplies the physical release or transfer event.
A release from the Angelina jail can occur through bond, dismissal, time served, sentence completion, or another order. Transfer to TDCJ, another county, USMS, or ICE is continued custody elsewhere. A hold can delay community release even after one matter ends. Use the Angelina County released-inmate record paths to reconcile the jail register, booking-out record, court docket, and receiving agency.
Do not apply TDCJ good-time classes to a county detainee. Conversely, the sheriff's discretionary county authority does not compute a state-prison projected date. Each custodian maintains its own record.
Confirm an Angelina Actual Release
Check the TDCJ result again for actual status and release information. If the person has an approved state release, the Parole Division release-status line is 512-406-5202. General locator service is available at 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 during published weekday hours. Call the unit before arranging transportation because dates and release locations can change.
For notifications, use the VINELink and IVSS release check. County VINE and state IVSS are separate layers. An alert is timely evidence of an event, but the durable proof remains the release record. For an Angelina jail event, request the permanent jail-register entry and booking-out or release/transfer papers. For a TDCJ event, request actual release and discharge information from TDCJ.
When online information is unavailable, TDCJ accepts an inmate-information request by email at pia@tdcj.texas.gov. Include the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. Without that number, include the exact date of birth, or an approximate age and county of conviction. Ask for the actual release or discharge date, current status, incarceration history, offense and court information, and the Projected Release Date. This no-charge information route does not provide photographs.
A court document can explain the sentence, jail credit, or later order, yet it may not record the exact moment of departure. Likewise, an Angelina jail release record does not calculate a TDCJ date. Pair the legal record with the custody agency's event record. If a receiving agency appears, continue the check there until the physical custody path is clear.
Note: A missing projected date does not prove release; it may mean the wrong system, an unmatched record, or no scheduled state release.
