Trace Federal Custody Releases

To find someone released from federal or immigration custody after an Angelina County case, first identify whether USMS, BOP, or ICE became the custodian. No federal or ICE adult detention center was verified in Angelina County, Texas. These paths matter because a person can disappear from the county roster after transfer. BOP covers sentenced federal custody, ICE ODLS covers immigration detention, and USMS often handles federal pretrial movement. Each system proves only its own custody event, so use the county transfer record and receiving-agency result together.

Angelina Federal Custody Routes

A federal detainer or warrant can move someone from the Angelina County Detention Center to U.S. Marshals Service custody. USMS manages federal pretrial detention, transport, and contract-facility placements. After sentencing and designation, the Bureau of Prisons may become the custodian. Immigration and Customs Enforcement may take custody after a local release order when an immigration hold applies.

None of those transfers is a community release. The sheriff's booking-out or transfer entry should identify the receiving agency. That destination decides the next search. Use BOP only for BOP custody, ICE ODLS only for immigration custody, and the USMS record path for marshal-held custody.

The Angelina County release guide starts with the last known custodian. A missing name on one system never proves the person is not held elsewhere.

Confirm BOP Release Status

The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. Search by BOP, DCDC, FBI, or INS number when possible. A number is usually the strongest match. The name search allows optional age, race, and sex fields.

Results can show name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location. “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” with a date is strong evidence that BOP confinement ended. It does not prove the person has no USMS, county, state, immigration, or federal supervised-release obligation. Phrase the result as the end of BOP custody.

BOP warns that release dates may change because of sentence computations, including First Step Act calculations. A future date is not an accomplished release. Recheck the official result and seek the agency record when durable proof matters.

Check ICE Release Records

The ICE Online Detainee Locator System accepts a nine-digit A-number. Add leading zeroes when needed. It also allows an exact full name, date of birth, and country of birth. Exact data matters because ODLS is not a broad name-only archive.

ICE materials say ODLS can include people released from ICE custody within the previous 60 days. It excludes minors and can omit a record or lag. After that limited window, no result is weak historical evidence. Contact the appropriate Enforcement and Removal Operations office or request the actual ICE record for an older event.

An ICE released result establishes an ICE custody event. It does not establish the outcome of a state or federal criminal case, and it should not be expanded into a claim about every possible custodian.

Trace USMS Custody Changes

The U.S. Marshals Service prisoner program explains the federal pretrial and transport role. USMS has no public historical person locator comparable to BOP. Its Justice Detainee Information System contains internal custody, warrant, and movement information.

When someone leaves Angelina custody on a federal hold, obtain the county transfer record first. It can identify USMS as the receiver and establish the date local custody ended. Search BOP only after federal designation makes that system relevant. For marshal-held history, use an appropriate USMS FOIA or records request rather than treating a BOP no-result as release.

Contract detention can make the physical building different from the legal custodian. Ask which agency controlled the person, not just where the person slept.

Request Angelina Transfer Proof

Use the Angelina County request portal for the sheriff's existing jail-register entry, booking-out sheet, transfer order, and related hold information. Select the sheriff as recipient. Include full booked name, approximate dates, booking or SO number, and cause number when known.

Ask for existing fields that show transfer date and time, receiving agency, destination, charges, and holds. A permanent jail-register entry is especially useful after the current web roster removes the person. The court docket can show a federal warrant, dismissal, bond, or state disposition, but the sheriff transfer paper establishes the local custody movement.

For the receiving side, address the federal request to the agency that holds the record. USMS, BOP, and ICE are not interchangeable offices. A narrow request with identifiers and dates is more useful than a broad demand for every document.

Federal Hold Versus Release

A detainer is an agency request connected to custody or notice before release. It can cause a person who is legally releasable on the local charge to move directly into another agency's custody. Therefore a bond or dismissal in Angelina County does not automatically mean a community exit.

Use a two-part statement when facts support it: Angelina County custody ended on the documented transfer date, and the named federal or immigration agency then received custody. Continue the search there. Avoid words such as “free” unless the official records address every relevant hold.

Federal supervised release is also different from confinement. A BOP release can be followed by court-ordered supervision. The BOP locator's released status does not erase that legal obligation.

No Angelina Federal Facility

The facility sweep did not verify a federal or ICE adult detention center inside Angelina County. This page represents custody routes serving a county case, not a local federal jail. That distinction prevents an agency path from being mislabeled as a brick-and-mortar Angelina facility.

A person may be transported far from the county. Release location can also differ from the last place housed. Verify current agency instructions before travel, delivery, or pickup. Do not rely on a historic address without confirming the current custodian.

Read Cross-System Results

If BOP says Released, report that BOP custody ended on the displayed date. If ICE gives a recent released result, state that it concerns ICE custody and note the limited window. If USMS received the person but BOP has no result, do not infer release because designation may not have occurred.

Record the source and check date. Preserve written records for historical proof. Dynamic locators are useful for current routing, but a custodian-specific release or transfer record gives the clearest durable account.

Federal Release Date Limits

A displayed federal date can change after sentence computation, including First Step Act credits. Treat a future date as planning information. An accomplished BOP date answers only when BOP custody ended. Federal supervised release is imposed through court and may follow confinement, so court records explain that later status.

USMS pretrial custody may never become a BOP entry. A dismissal, bond, sentence, or transfer can lead elsewhere. Start with the marshal or court record when BOP was never the custodian.

ICE Sixty-Day Release Window

The roughly 60-day released-result reach makes ODLS useful for a recent check but weak as an archive. Search with exact identifiers. A later no-result does not prove ICE never detained the person. Minors are excluded and must not be pursued through adult tools. For an adult historical record, contact the proper ICE office or request existing records.

Angelina Federal Transfer Requests

The Angelina jail register should preserve release or transfer information even after a person disappears from the live roster. Ask for the booking-out record, transfer order, receiving agency, destination, and holds. A narrow request tied to a booked name and date is more useful than asking the sheriff to explain a federal case.

Once the receiver is known, request the next record from that agency. BOP maintains federal prison records, ICE maintains immigration detention records, and USMS maintains marshal custody and movement information. A court docket can explain a warrant, bond, dismissal, sentence, or supervised-release order, but it does not replace the custodian movement record.
